NIMHNEACH

During my B.A.(Hons) in Communication Studies, I took a number of production modules that gave me a broad understanding of audio and visual production. In my final year, I researched, interviewed, recorded and edited an award-winning documentary called NIMHNEACH.

BDSM is a variety of often erotic practices or roleplaying involving bondage, discipline, dominance and submission, sadomasochism, and other related interpersonal dynamics. My colleagues and I interviewed key members of the BDSM community in Ireland about the Irish BDSM event Nimhneach.

This documentary intends to give the viewer an insight into the intimate yet taboo world of BDSM and focuses on the importance of consent and communication within the community.

This documentary was awarded a Hybrid Media Award for Best Documentary in 2019.
