SUBSET:THE ART OF THE UNSEEN

During my B.A.(Hons) in Communication Studies, I took a number of production modules that gave me a broad understanding of audio and visual production. In my final year, I researched, interviewed, recorded and edited an audio documentary that focused on the impact that a Dublin based art collective were having on the conversations surrounding the Housing Crisis in Dublin in 2019.

SUBSET are a collective based in Ireland. They have engaged in projects, initiatives, trials and tribulations through public art and placemaking. They are a catalyst for artistic, social and cultural activities throughout Ireland. Their GREY AREA movement focused on using predominantly empty spaces, to draw attention to the hypocrisy of a city housing countless vacant properties in the midst of an escalating homeless crisis.

In this documentary, I interviewed two of the members of SUBSET. These two individuals had their voices disguised for legal reasons. I also interviewed Brian from Inner City Helping Homeless (ICHH) who spoke about the work that they do and the impact that SUBSET has had on their organisation.
